55 GMC 100
With manual steering, manual brakes, and a four speed, I'm sure there isn't much of anything you couldn't drive after learning on this beast, which is exactly what all of the kids got to do. The Jim bought this '55 GMC bought it for work back in 1971, but as the family grew up it became a secondary vehicle and a rig for the kids to drive in school. Jim painted it himself years ago, and that's probably why there isn't much of rust in the ol' gal. The original 155 horse power 287 PONTIAC V8 didn't live for very long after Jim bought it, neither did the next engine he put in, but he managed to find a sweet running 347 out of a '57 Chieftan. It's still going strong, so other than getting cleaned up with new gaskets, we'll leave the engine alone. The rest of the rig will be getting a body off restoration with modern safety upgrades (like fuses and disc brakes), and a nice wooden bed floor.
